Redesign of a forgotten sneaker from the '80s

Tisza is an icon in Hungary. The sport brand survived turbulent decades, including the change of regime that ended the era of socialism. Their sneakers and clothes are still designed and manufactured in Hungary and fairly popular amongst generations. As sneaker fans ourselves, we were more than happy to redesign one of their early models to withstand the challenges of modern comfort and style.

From the archives to the streets

The Sport model is deliberately retro, but in this case the inspiration from the past goes way beyond pure aesthetics. We re-worked the motives of the original shoes to become an extra comfortable, easy-to_wear pair of sneakers that still conveys the iconic looks of the 80’s.

Product Development

We guided the product development process from the first design sketches to establishing the exact proportions to the selection of colors and materials. After various rounds of prototyping, we finalized the shapes, technical solutions and graphic design, while we were constantly helping the team of Tisza production with consultations.

Branding

As part of the design strategy, we also designed a brand identity, inspired by the special and slightly weird SPORT logo on the heel of the original model. As the launch of the new sneakers was in the middle of the stricktest lockdown, we improvised an isolated photoshoot to introduce the shoes.
