At Flying Objects, like any decent design studio, we’re crazy about dogs, but there’s no denying that our hearts belong to Hungarian breeds. They’re energetic, resilient, full of personality, funny, and sometimes embarrassingly smart.
So when another Hungarian legend, Tisza, asked us to create a T-shirt collection featuring our favorite dog breeds, we happily accepted the invitation. This is our third collaboration with one of Hungary’s oldest fashion brands.
Pumi, Mudi, Sinka—we chose these three breeds because they are perhaps less popular than the Puli or the Vizsla, and we wanted more people to get to know them. What they have in common is that they are all herding dogs, bred over many centuries by shepherds and cattle herders to assist with their work and endure the harsh weather of the Hungarian plains. They are medium-sized, fast, intelligent, and very resilient. They won’t rest until the job is done, whether it’s actual herding or keeping a group of hikers together on a hike.

Although Pumis and Mudis are now often seen as beloved pets even in cities, their enormous need for exercise and stimulation requires a firm, experienced owner. The Pumi is the class clown. Their appearance resembles a stuffed teddy bear more than a working dog, but this is deceptive. Despite their cute, round ears, button eyes, and fluffy coats, they are truly tenacious, intelligent dogs who are very owner-oriented.
Mudi dogs have become very popular in recent years, even as pets, especially the fancy-colored varieties. They are very vocal, intelligent, and lovable. They can be naturally tailless or born with long, flag-like tails. Their build resembles that of Pumas, but their ears and noses are more pointed, and their necks are surrounded by long, mane-like fur.
The Sinka is perhaps the least well-known. One reason for this is that it is not yet an officially recognized breed, even though references to it have been found for centuries.
He really isn't cut out to be a lap dog; he's a true herding dog, capable of keeping even a herd of gray cattle under control. He's a very intelligent, muscular, and strong dog, despite his medium size. He has a short coat and comes in many different colors and patterns.
There’s so much more we could say about our beloved four-legged friends, so we’re thrilled to have had the chance to showcase them in this project. We combined their distinctive, endearing silhouettes and patterns with the iconic Tisza logo to create a design that resonates with locals and also makes the perfect souvenir for visitors.
It’s great to see that the collection is popular among dog owners, who proudly wear the T-shirts and show them off both in breed-specific social media groups and out on the street.
The T-shirts are available for purchase in the Tisza online store.
