Frend is a foldable wheelbarrow for urban gardeners
As the health benefits of spending time in fresh air, gardening and getting closer to nature are getting proven by various studies, the popularity of these activities are rapidly growing. Urban dwellers often chose to break free from crowded city streets and turn to hobbies and lifestyles that help them to find balance between the fast paced modern and the mindful, relaxing, more natural time.
Cities rarely offer possibilities to plant gardens besides balconies and backyards. However the trend of urban-gardening is rising, as more and more people start to grow their own fruits and vegetables. As in the cities, space is limited and having the proper tools and machinery often comes as a challenge and require smart, space-saving, yet functional and durable solutions.
Design and Function
Frend is a foldable wheelbarrow with a charming, almost industrial look that will appeal to their target group, urban and small-scale gardeners. This ultra-light aluminium wheelbarrow will fit on the top box or the back of a car and won’t take up too much valuable storage space in the garage. FREND can be ccompletely flat-folded and hung on the wall. Practical, lightweight and aesthetically pleasing, FREND will be a great addition to any gardener’s toolset.

We updated the original design with some refinement. The handles became removable, making the device even more compact. Most of the wheelbarrow is made with standard parts, all of them can be purchased at any DIY store, so it’s easy to repair. This is an extremely important feature for users who are looking for a product with a long life cycle. Frend is created on the premises of a simple, sustainable design approach.
